claire.byrne@hain-celestial.com - Kristina Groves sets Green Spirit in Motion!
-
Delta, BC (February 10, 2010) – Are you green on the inside? That’s what Hain Celestial™ asked Canadians across the country. As Canada’s first-ever exclusive Official Supplier of Natural and Organic Packaged Grocery Products for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the company launched a national program over the summer challenging all Canadians to show their green spirit, get green on the inside and be a part of the 2010 Winter Games celebration.
“A recent survey we conducted of 3,000 members of our Yves Veggie Cuisine® Good Food Club found that 89 per cent felt that it is just as important to be green on the inside as it was to be green on the outside,” said Beena Goldenberg, President, Hain Celestial Canada. “We wanted to find a way to challenge all Canadians as we rally around our Canadian Olympic athletes and encourage them to compete in the true athletic tradition of cleanly, naturally, organically, purely, and nobly. It’s a great time for us all to take stock of our own goals, embrace A Healthy Way of Life™ and go for the green!”
Hain Celestial took the Are You Green on the Inside? message on the road this summer and invited Canadians to join in the celebration at major events right across Canada. Canadians who had their picture taken became one of thousands used to create a massive collage of Canadian fans celebrating the healthy way of life during the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. Four green trolley’s are now driving around downtown and throughout the greater Vancouver area supporting the Green on the Inside message and encouraging Canadians to live more green.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for Canadians to get involved in the Olympic Spirit that is sweeping the nation” said two-time Olympic silver medalist and speed Skater Kristina Groves. “In particular I think the Hain Celestial campaign gives Canadians a chance to be a part of the shift in consciousness towards healthier eating and an increased concern for the environment that is also taking hold across the country. The Olympic Games don’t come to Canada very often and for many this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, as a Canadian, to be a part of the whole Olympic experience. It’s a fun way to have a personal connection with an athlete, a sport and the Olympic Games. That feeling of support is so valuable to any athlete and enhances the experience for them too.“

- Saphara Kilimanjava™ Coffee earns 2008 Best New Product Award.
-
TORONTO, ONTARIO- More than 10,000 Canadians recently voted Saphara Kilimanjava™ Coffee the best new coffee in the Tea & Coffee Category of the 2008 Best New Products Awards (BNPA), a national consumer choice awards program.
The Best New Product Awards is an annual awards program focusing on everyday consumer packaged goods products including food, personal care and household. Based on voting by real consumers who participate in an independent survey, the BPNA is one of the largest consumer surveys about new product development and innovation conducted in Canada with over 10,000 Canadians participating nationally. This year’s results have shown that Canadian consumers are becoming more and more concerned with the environment and how their choices can affect their ‘carbon footprint’.
Saphara, a brand of The Hain Celestial Group, a leading natural and organic food and personal care products company, worked diligently to source Organic, Fair Trade Certified Arabica beans from the finest coffee growing regions across the globe to bring consumers a true journey for the senses. Saphara offers the exclusive combination of premium coffees and social responsibility for today’s eco-conscious consumer.
“Saphara is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and continues to research and develop best manufacturing practices to maximize our environmental sustainability,” said Claire Byrne, brand manager at Hain Celestial Canada. “We manufacture with a patented process that grinds, fills and seals in one continuous operation, reducing our lighting and heating requirements. In addition to purchasing fair trade certified beans which provide livable wages and improved opportunities for coffee growing communities, we only purchase shade grown beans. This protects coffee plants from the sun, making the soil more fertile, preventing erosion and hosting migratory and native birds”
The coffees retail for $7.99 each and are available in four varieties: Kilimanjava™, Mocaverde™, Costa Roasta™ and Columbean Decafé. Saphara also offers premium full-leaf botanical organic and fair trade certified teas, available in four distinctive flavours: White Tea with Schizandra, Tropical Rooibos, Gen Mai Cha and Blackcurrant Hibiscus.
