We provide consumers with superior food and personal care products for a healthy way of life. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of SENIOR BUYER (TRENTON PLANT).
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Purchasing and Contract Manufacturing, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for effectively managing the purchase order replenishment process for our Meat Alternative division with a focus on minimizing costs while maximizing inventory and supplier performance. While carrying out these responsibilities you will be focused on supporting processes improvements activities (forecasting, master data, ERP materials planning, etc.)
•Manage the Meat Alternative division supply portfolio, ensuring transparency of spending and consistent/effective supply to our production facilities (Vancouver and Trenton)
•Forecast, plan, schedule and order for long lead items and/or critical materials to meet production goals
•Optimize sourcing procedures to attain maximum efficiency and minimize risk spending, partnered with trustworthy vendors and suppliers
•Initiate and evaluates supplier bids and contracts, manage the qualification of new suppliers and negotiate supplier agreements and install contracts as needed
•Responsible for replenishing inventory with a focus on optimizing inventory levels (supply) with the needs of two manufacturing facilities
•Maintain ongoing communications with suppliers and vendors regarding costs, quality, quantity and delivery of goods purchased as identified through operations/stakeholders
•Work closely with the Senior Manager of Procurement to support sourcing analyses, contract management and cost reduction recommendations
•Research and anticipate shifts in negotiating power of suppliers
•Support planning for the Meat alternative division and own the relationship with key 3rd party finish goods suppliers
•Manage and schedule materials transportation needs and other supply chain activities, while planning supply of weekly transfers of inventory. Prepare Purchase Orders as needed & ensure on-time delivery
•Manage procurement input to Master Data (Product specs, packaging specs, etc.) and update ERP system with correct and accurate data
•Resolve discrepancies and/or issues as they occur during the purchase order cycle, as well as any invoice discrepancies in a timely manner
•Responsible for managing and reporting purchasing metrics (forecasts, price tracking, PPV, etc.)
•Communicate with Quality Assurance and Operations to improve the cost of quality and resolve any quality issues with suppliers
•Comfortable with figures and in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data, with the ability to think critically and perform multi-scenario and complex analysis
•Assertive, well organized and proficient using Software Applications such as Excel and ERP systems
•Investigates problems, finds root causes, and develops solutions
•Able to work independently and in a team environment. Must have the flexibility to adapt to changing demands and schedules
•Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to maintain effective relationships with internal personnel and suppliers
•Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the organization
•A good negotiator, who looks for sustainable networking relationships
•Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related technical discipline
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience on similar roles, preferably in the CPG Industry
•Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, highly proficient in Excel
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
