Q: Why is Coconut Dream not enriched?
A: Only beverages made derived from legumes, nuts, cereal grains or potatoes can be fortified. Health Canada does not consider coconut to be a nut.
Q: What are the benefits of Inulin in Almond Dream and Coconut Dream?
A: Inulin is a prebiotic soluble fibre that contributes to intestinal health.
Q: Is there any fat in the Coconut Dream beverages?
A: Coconut Dream has medium chain fatty acids; fats that are original from Coconut. These medium chain fatty acids metabolize more quickly and are used as fuel, not stored as fat.
Q: Is Almond Dream fortified?
A: Unlike other Almond Non-Dairy Beverages, Almond Dream Enriched is fortified with vitamins A, D, B2, B12 and calcium delivering more nutrients than other Almond Non-Dairy beverages.
Almond Dream is the only Almond Non-Dairy beverage enriched with Vitamin D, required to help the body absorb calcium.
Q: Are Dream products gluten free?
A: All our Non-Dairy Frozen desserts and Non-Dairy beverages – except Oat Dream – are gluten free.
Q: Is Rice Dream similar to soy drinks?
A: Rice Dream beverages are similar in consistency to low fat soymilk. It can be used in many of the same ways. It is delicious served chilled or hot, on breakfast cereals and in recipe preparation.
Q: What are Rice Dream beverages?
A: Rice Dream Beverages are delicious, low fat non-dairy brinks make from rice. Their light, refreshing flavour comes from our patented recipes which transforms nutritious rice into delicious beverages.
Q: Are all varieties of Soy Dream made from organic, GMO-free soybeans?
A: Yes.
Q: What's the difference between aseptic and refrigerated Rice Dream?
A: Aseptic packaging allows Rice Dream to stay fresh for up to a year unopened without the use of preservatives or refrigeration. Unopened Refrigerated Rice Dream stays fresh for approximately 45 days from the date of manufacture. Even though the packaging is different, the Rice Dream in each is essentially the same.
Refrigerated Rice Dream is available in milk-style cartons in the refrigerated dairy case of your health food store or supermarket. It has to be refrigerated at all times, has a shorter life span, and has to be used sooner than aseptically packaged Rice Dream. However, once opened, each version will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 7 – 10 days.
Q: What is aseptic packaging?
A: Aseptic or shelf stable packaging is a beverage and liquid food system that allows products once considered perishable to be distributed and stored without refrigeration for periods of up to 1 year or more. The packaging achieves the room-temperature shelf stability by filling a sterilized package with a sterile food product within the confines of a hygienic environment. Many other package types use preservatives or the product must be refrigerated to achieve a long shelf life. Aseptically processed liquid foods and beverages are sterilized outside the package using an ultra-high temperature process that rapidly heats, then cools, the product before filling. This flash-heating-and-cooling aseptic process substantially reduces the energy use and nutrient loss associated with conventional sterilization. As a result, aseptically packaged products retain more nutritional value, and exhibit more natural texture, colour, and taste.
